Pentwyn Lesuire Centre

Pentwyn Dynamos 5 - 4 Maindy Corries
Willis
Foulkes
Fry(2)
Gibbins

A nice end to the season with a great result for us - we had never beaten Maindy since starting 11 a side football in 3 previous attempts and finally acheived it today!

We started well, playing our passing game and taking it to Maindy, taking a deserved lead through Sam Willis. Danny teed him up for a lovely curling effort into the top corner. We soon went 2 nil up through Will - who was having a great game again afeter a recent run of excellent form - and we looked like we were going to run away with it.

But we did our ususal thing and slowed it down, allowing Maindy back into it and before we knew it - it was 2-2!

I told the boys at half time to get back at them and we restored our lead through Charlie - and Danny added another to make it 4-2, but we again Maindy stepped their game up and scored 2 goals to level it at 4-4.

It was startting to look like we were heading for a draw - when Will rtaced through onto a through ball and lifted the ball over the outrushing keeper to snatch victory and make it 5-4!

An enjoyable win to end the season and put the Maindy hoodoo to bed!

Whitchurch Hospital

Rhiwbina Black 4 -1 Pentwyn Dynamos
                                  Fry

A real dogged first half performance in which we managed to keep the eventual League Champions at bay - we harried, hasselled & closed down and really made them work for it. The boys all put in a magnificent effort and it was 0-0 at half time.

We tired in the second half and they eventually scored - and I think we just couldnt keep up the work rate - and they smelt blood. They hit us with another 3 goals in a 15 minute period that could have seen us give up.

But we didnt - we got a second wind and the introduction of Willl Fry gave us a different type of outlet up front. Will got invloved straight away and got his reward capitalising on uncertainty between their defence and goalkeeper to finish cooly giving us a consolation goal - final score 1-4.

A little bit more belief during that cricial early period of the seconf half and we might just have gotten soemthing here - but in all honesty Rhiwbina were big, powerful and clinical and deserved the win although I think even Tony would agree - 4-1 flattered them a little.
