Parc Coed-y-Nant

Pentwyn Dynamos 4 - 1 Llanedeyrn Bulldogs
Swabey (2)
Willis
Foulkes

Following on from a disapointing defeat last week we were looking for an improved performance against our local rivals - A table topping Llanedeyrn side that were unbeaten so far this season - having only dropped 2 points. We got it!

From the first whistle we were up for it, closing them down and not allowing them space to play when we didnt have the ball, and passing and moving with a quick tempo when in posession. After bossing the first 20 minutes we got our reward when Daniel Swabey's cross-cum-shot from the left corner of the area found its way inside the far post - 1-0.

We now sensed our chance to inflict a first defeat on Llanedeyrn and took the game to them at every opportunity. A corner from the right was driven in by Caine Morse - and following a box scramble Sam Willis was on hand to poke the ball home for 2-0. Some great saves over the next 10 mins from Llanedeyrn's 'keeper kept them in the contest and their confidence began to grow.

Llanedeyrn now started to show their ability and started to fight back, getting their midfield more involved and began to get the ball to their strikers. A powerful run into the box by their No. 7 saw us backing off and we were punished with a great finish into the top right hand corner. 2-1 and game on!

Our 'keeper Bradley Preece made a great save from a tricky swerving shot that dipped just as it approached and the half time whisle blew.

Half time and 2-1, No stern words this week - Just 'More of the same please lads!'

The second half was closer than the first for 20 mins as the game became more end to end, the main difference was our defence - Lloyd Richards was magnificent at centre half, Sam Azu never let their pacy striker out of his sight, Owen Evans hassled and harried at every opportunity and Caine Morse floating in front of them protecting and shoring things up when needed. Up at the other end we were testing their keeper more and he made several impressive saves - in my opinion their man of the match.

With 15 mins left we re-took the control we had in the first half and looked to make sure of the victory. The ball dropped to Daniel Swabey - 20 yards out, he set himself and hooked a shot high up and over the keeper into the back of the net - 3-1!

We were buzzing now as we started to sense more goals, Charlie Foulkes driving us forward, Callum Patten making it tick with intelligent passing and Christopher Viney linking well with Daniel Gibbins down the right flank.

With minutes remaining Charlie Foulkes received the ball just inside Llanederyn half and - as they backed off - he rifled a stunning shot from all of 25 yards right into the top right hand corner to make it 4-1 and a cap and excellent victory - moving us to within one point of the league leaders.
