Saturday 8th December 2012
Cardiff District Under 15 A Division
Poplar Park
Fairwater Juniors 1 - 2 Pentwyn Dynamos
Gibbins, Foulkes
Always a difficult one, Fairwater away - and with them doing so well this season it looked like Today would be no different.
We started the better of the 2 sides and created several chances early on - Danny went close, Chaz headed over and Sam, Jared and Callum all had shots on goal.Jared was a constant threat down the left and kept taking it to them down the flank - linking well with Danny and Callum - who was loving a free role for the day!
We eventually took the lead with a lovely goal - Chaz received the ball just inside our half cut inside and played a slide rule pass through to Danny, who was on the shoulder of the last man. Danny went through, drew the keeper and poked it past him into the bottom right hand corner to score in the fifth consecutive game.
A deserved lead but we just couldnt get the elusive second. Fairwater only had 2 shots on our goal in the first half and unfortunately they both came in the same passage of play - and lead to us conceding!
They had a corner that fell to one of their players, who struck a fierce shot that Brad saved really well - but we were ball watching and they tapped in the rebound.
The second half was much closer - Fairwater took the game to us more and it could have gone either way.
Bradley made a couple of good saves as they pressed us but we are looking good at the back these days - especially thanks to Huw, who had another great game and kept it tight along with Ben, Ryan P. and Matty.
Sam and Chaz were battling well in midfield and kept us in it with their dogged and energetic displays.
Chaz had a header struck the bar and bounce on - or possibly over - the line but the ref allowed play to go on. Chaz did get his deserved goal to win for us though - he passed it wide to Swabes, who held the ball up really well and weighted a great pass for Chaz to smash in to make it 2-1 with his 3rd goal of the season.
Josh, Ryan F.and Jake came on to give us fresh legs and both never stopped running , working hard for the team tracking back and breaking up the play as Fairwater pressed for an equaliser.
They nearly got it right at the death as they went through and put the ball in the net - but the ref had blown before the shot for a push on Matty.
Great result against a good side.

Saturday 1st December 2012
Cardiff & District Under 15 A Division
Butetown Park
AFC Butetown 5 - 3 Pentwyn Dynamos
B. Pomeroy, Viney, Gibbins
We knew this would be tough - but we stood up well to the test and were never imtimidated and should have come away with at least a point.
We bossed the first 20 minutes and created 2 or 3 good chances - Chris and Swabes both having shots well saved and Chris shooting over. We deservedly took the lead through Ben Pomeroy. Daniel Swabey sending a lovely ball through for Ben to chase, round the keeper and pass into an empty net.
They found their feet and equalised with a good finish from the outstanding Niall Gray and it looked like it was going to be a close game.
5 minutes later Niall went through and our challenges were enough to put him off, he slipped and the ball ended in our keeper, Bradley's hands. Then unbelievably - the ref who was stood on the half way line gave a penalty! Our boys were obviously not happy and a little melee ensued in which one of their players attempted a head butt on one of our boys - nothing was done and they scored the penalty.
It was obvious now that our only chance of getting anything here would be by playing our football and dodging the over the top tackles that were going unpunished.
They scored again and it was 3-1 at half time.
We went out for the second half and really stood up to the test - Danny dribbled through and into the box, drew the keeper and squared it to Chris and we were back in it at 3-2.
Their only real threat was Niall and we stuggled to cope with him - he scored a brilliant 4th from an unbelievable angle and it looked like we might be done for.
We werent though - Chris went storming down the right whipped in a lovely ball and Danny got across his man and stabbed the ball past the keeper to get us back in with a chance again.
We were really pressuring them now and after good pressure we forced one of their players to lose possession and concede a throw. He decided that he didnt like this and marched up to one of our boys and appeared to head butt - the ref once again deciding to look the other way.
A lapse in concentration caused us to concede a 5th late on and the game was lost.
The only difference between the sides was Niall Gray - scoring 4 goals and was outstanding all match. They can count themeselves extremely lucky not to have had 2 men sent off though - and the penalty decision was the worst we have ever had given against us, so this left a bad taste in our mouths to say the least.
