Pentwyn Leisure Centre

Pentwyn Dynamos 1 - 5 Fairwater
Foulkes

The scoreline doesnt tell the story - but Fairwater deserved the 3 points. They coped with the wind better than us and took their chances when we didnt. Vinnie said to me at full time that he thought it was going to be one way traffic after the first 15 mins as we created so many chances - but only took one of them!

We went a goal down early on and that seemed to liven us up and we went at them time after time but only managed  to register once. A ball into the box to Danny, he backed into his marker and allowed the ball to run through to Charlie who smashed it home to make it 1-1.

The first half became end to end for the last 15 mins and Fairwater scored again making it 2-1 at halftime.

We were a different side in the second half as Fairwater went at us down the flanks and soon were awarded a penalty - a stick on pen as Caine pulled their man back inside the box - and converted it for 3-1.

Within 5 mins they had another penalty - this time somewhat dubious - as Josh slid in and got a touch on the ball but a bit of their man also - 4 steps later he went down and a penalty was awarded! a cooly taken pen made it 4-1.

We gifted them the fifth goal too - miscontrolling the ball into the path of the oncoming striker and it was 5-1.

There were many lessons to be learned today and for the season so far in general :-

We must be more clinical, we must be willing to do the ugly stuff - tracking back, challenging for headers in the middle of the park and improved decision making in both final thirds.

A bad result doesnt make us a bad team and the boys must believe that - but even more they must strive to improve the aforementioned deficiencies if we want to continue to improve.
